Ambassador Stevens Takes Development Partners To Sierra Leone

Ambassador Stevens and Dr. Scheiter Discussing plans

In an effort to further complement President Koroma’s Agenda for Change, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ambassador Jongopie Siaka Stevens has taken upon himself to encourage meaningful investors and high profile personalities in the diaspora to visit the country and identify areas of potential investment.

This was proven during his one week visit to the country, with Sierra Leone’s Honorary Consul in Bavaria Germany, Dr. Dietmar Scheiter. The purpose of the visit was to keep the consul abreast with ongoing development activities in the country, thus enabling him (the Consul) to woo investors and further improve the bilateral relationship between Germany and Sierra Leone.

While in Freetown, the Ambassador and Dr. Scheiter held fruitful discussions with government ministers among which include Foreign Affairs, Trade, Agriculture, Tourism, and the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA). Issues regarding investment opportunities and the socio- economic development of the country were the main focus.

Though it was his first time to visit Sierra Leone, Dr. Scheiter was moved by the tremendous achievements made in the country so far, and described the hospitality given to him as exemplary. He further assured his commitment to work assiduously in an effort to promote the country’s interest in Germany.
